Event Wrap-up:
This time, the weather was on our side! It was sunny and warm, with a gentle breeze. The beach was under water, but it was warm water. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect day for our last on-the-lake party of the season.

Vice Commodore Karen Rodarte once again took command of the grill, like a cooking whirlwind - spatula in one hand, tongs in another, spray bottle in yet another, and a drink in her last hand. (I could be mistaken on that - it was kind of smoky, and she moves so darn fast!) We had juicy sirloin burgers, hot dogs, and curried chicken strips from the grill, cold keg beer and sodas. A few desserts and sides rounded out the offering.

Jeremiah Sherman DJ'd the party from high atop Jake Bays boat, filling the Cove with music. People anchored or rafted closer in, than in July, which made it easier to wade or float from boat to boat, without splashing too much water in your beer (or getting too far away from the kegs). It was a special treat to have past member Mike Wood join us, while he was back in the area.

Our thanks to Alan and Debbie Lyon, who weren't able to make it, but let us use their pontoon boat to move all our stuff to the beach. Alan even sent his buddies, Rick and Bill, to man the boat and help us with some pretty heavy lifting. Those guys were a great help and a real hoot! I hope we see them, again.

Also, thanks to Don Riggs, who let us tie up half his freezer space for over a month with the Club's meat. And finally, thanks to my officers - Karen, Monica and Bettye Ann - and to Cathy Mitchell, John Lambert and Deborah Brantley. You all worked really hard and made it fun for everyone.

The Thunder for the Children Charity Event (in previous years, a poker run and auction, held in September) had to be cancelled for this year.
