Event Wrap-up:
At Bayview Marina, the day dawned to reveal the silhouettes of big, black trailer-mounted smokers, already active for hours under the dedicated supervision of true barbecue maestros.
Fortunately, the forecast of afternoon thunderstorms proved inaccurate. The party featured a bountiful spread of top-notch barbecue and tasty sides, along with desserts and homemade ice cream. Tunes by Texas artists played in the background, as club members and guests ate, talked, swam, and ate. Kids games included 'ring the dolphin' and a limbo contest.
Plaques were awarded for best brisket, ribs, chicken and homemade ice cream.

Entries were ranked for overall impression, after taking into account aroma, appearance, tenderness/texture, and taste.

Of the barbecue items that didn't fit one of the official categories, the judges favorite was the pheasant, cooked by Don Riggs.
