Classic Tiki Cocktail Recipes

Below, you'll find the recipes for the classic Trader Vic's-style drinks, featured at our 2008 Commodore's Ball. Enjoy, but remember,... limit two Scorpions to a customer!

Mai Tai (Tahitian for "The Best")
1 oz. lime juice
¼ oz. Orgeat syrup
¼ oz. bar syrup
½ oz. Orange Curacao
1 oz. Dark Jamaican rum
1 oz. Gold rum
Shake with ice, strain into ice-filled glass. Garnish with fruit stick (cherry and pineapple chunk on a pick) and mint sprig.

Kama’aina ("Oldtimer" in Hawaiian)
½ oz. lemon juice
½ oz. Triple Sec
½ oz. coconut cream
1 oz. gin
7-Up
Shake all but 7-Up with ice, pour into ice-filled glass. Top off with 7-Up, stir. Garnish with fruit stick and mint sprig.

Gun Club Punch
1½ oz. pineapple juice
½ oz. lime juice
1 oz. silver rum
1 oz. Dark Jamaican rum
dash of grenadine
dash of Orange Curacao
Shake with ice, strain into ice-filled glass. Garnish with fruit stick and mint sprig.

Scorpion
1½ oz. lemon juice
2 oz. orange juice
½ oz. Orgeat syrup
1 oz. Brandy
2 oz. Gold rum
Shake, pour over ice. Decorate with fruit stick.

* Orgeat syrup (pronounced, "OAR zha") A thick, almond flavored syrup. Finest Call brand is available in many area liquor stores. Torani or Da Vinci Almond Syrup is a workable substitute.
