Event Wrap-up:
On late morning Saturday, we had whitecaps, a rising wind, and a
forecast for thunderstorms to start popping up in the area, beginning
around 2:00 PM. The Commodore (that's me) decided to relocate the party
to the pool at Bayview Marina, for safety's sake. The time was moved to
5:00 PM, so those who wished to get out on the lake for a
while could still make the party. Another beach party or on-the-lake
event is being considered, as a make-up for this
one.
As expected, it was a smaller-than-usual crowd, though people kept drifting in through the evening, as they came off the lake. At the beginning, we were also helped in numbers a little. Two smaller parties were already at the pool when we arrived, grilling, drinking, and having a birthday. They didn't seem to mind, as our music just sort of swallowed them into our party.
We grilled hot dogs and sirloin burgers. The burgers turned out exceptional,
according to several attendees - we'll use the same brand of sirloin
patties, next time.
We tried out our new CO2 delivery system on
the keg. It was purchased to replace our "party pump" taps, so that if
we have a partial keg left, it won't be flat the next morning (or next
month!). This time, my little experiment was thwarted, though - they
finished draining the keg, as I carted it away.
Jeremiah Sherman set up his equipment and DJ'd the party, with music ranging from country to hip-hop, while adults and kids swam, ate, yelled, played and had a good time. A group of girls entertained us with an impromptu hula-hoop contest, and a generous gentleman grabbed his wallet and awarded the 1st and 2nd place winners a cash prize! Pictures of the party are posted in the Photo Gallery.

Thanks to those who helped us set up at the pool, on short notice. Thanks to Don Riggs, who's had to put up with Boat Club meat occupying much of his freezer space for the last month (and a lot's still there!). And thanks to Weekend's, for again letting us store our kegs in their cooler.
