Event Wrap-up: We had a mild evening for the annual Bayview Boat Club Halloween Chili Cook-off and Costume Contest Party, but the strong breeze was a bit challenging for contestants, as they decorated their serving areas. We had good participation, with 13 chili entries - a perfect number for Halloween! We also had lots of adults in costume, though we only had one youngster.
Contest Results:The Best Chili was judged blind, using coded sample bowls. Judges gave each contestant an overall score (0-10), after considering: Color/Appearance, Aroma, Taste, Consistency, and Aftertaste.
Best Chili| 1st Place | Terri Wigington |
| 2nd Place | Bettye Ann Howell |
| 3rd Place | Stacy Maynard |
The People's Choice Chili, Best Homemade Salsa and Best Decorated Table winners were determined by a popular vote by the attendees.

Robert Crider
Best Homemade Salsa:
Stacy Maynard
Best Table Decoration:
Angela Thomas
| Men's | Mark DeWitt |
| Women's | Kim Hanna |
After the awards were presented, our party broke up rather quickly - seems everyone was itching to get back to their home docks to catch 'Game 3' of the Texas Rangers' World Series run (alas,... but wait'll next year!).
Our thanks to the cooks for the fine chili and salsa, and to everyone
who came in costume and who brought desserts.
Our thanks to everyone who helped set up, and clean up, after.
And our special thanks to the
Haunt House, for
donating 4 pairs of VIP tickets for prizes, and to Gus Perrin and
LMD Marine Services,
for supplying two kegs of beer for our party. Since our party ended
earlier than planned, we only finished one,... so we're keeping the 2nd in the cooler,
for the next party!
