Event Wrap-up:
The first-ever 'Dockstock Music Festival' and party was a
tremendous success and everyone had a great,... I mean, groovy time!
Lots of folks came, dressed in various approximations of "hippie-style".
We had an excellent spread of member-brought side dishes, to accompany
the smoked chicken.
The Board especially wants to thank and recognize Jake Bays, for
organizing, coordinating and 'emcee-ing' the music festival - as well as
entertaining us with some of his own original songs. We've had a hazy
idea of doing something like this for years, but Jake's the one who
finally brought it into focus and made it happen. We also thank all our
singers and players - Mark David Manders, C.C. Cross, Sean Russell, 'Cap'n Bud' Rager,
Randy Pritchard, Paul Leonard, Don DuBoise, C.J. Babler, Natalie Womack -
and, if I missed anyone, thank you, too!
After a few rounds of narrowing-down,
the winners of the Best Hippie Contest were chosen by loudest acclamation. Angela Thomas was voted
the 'Grooviest Hippie Chick', and Randy Wilson the 'Grooviest Hippie
Dude'. Congratulations!
We want to thank Reed Wigington, for cooking up all that great smoked chicken, and everyone who brought sides - what an large and excellent spread we had! Angela's tie dye workshop inspired the notion that we should add an arts and crafts fair to the event,... next year. Yes, everyone who came fairly insisted that 'Dockstock' must become an annual event.
