Event Wrap-up:
High winds blew all afternoon, and
threatened to present a... challenge to our event. The poker
tournament was cancelled, because of the winds. Fortunately, they began
settling down, as the sun set. By 7:00, the wind had died off, and
the tournament was back on!
Meanwhile, guests feasted on the great barbecue, brought by our contestants, along
with the side dishes and desserts, brought by our members. Our planned
"canned" music received a late-breaking upgrade, thanks to an offer from
'Capt'n Bud' Rager. He set up and entertained us for a
couple hours with an assortment that included classic country, rock and
blues - even some Buffett. Then, it was time for the poker tournament to
start.
Barbecue Cook-off
Barbecue was blind judged, with winners chosen in three categories - Brisket, Ribs and Chicken.

We also had a competition for the 'Best Dang Beans', chosen by popular vote.

Texas Hold'em Poker Tournament
The tournament, organized by Barry Bosman of K Dock,
had 16 players buy in at $20. As it wound down to the final three, the
men found themselves watching from the sidelines - it was an all-girl
sweep!

Food Pantry Stocking
Since it was just before Thanksgiving, we thought we'd offer everyone an
opportunity to share their blessings, and help stock the food pantry of
Helping Hands of Rockwall, for the holidays.
We collected a cart-load, at the party, along with some more, the next
day. We took it to Helping Hands, in two batches, on the following
Monday.
Appreciation
Our thanks to the contestants who brought the fine barbecue and beans,
and to everyone who brought sides.

- for the serious focus and effort they brought to their task.
