The regular reservation deadline has passed. If you did not make reservations, but wish to attend - please call, to see whether any spots are available.
Details: The day approaches for the Commodore's Ball - our annual season finale. Members, former members, and their guests, friends and supporters of the club - all are invited to this festive celebration of the past 15th boat club year.
After a season of very casual parties, many (especially, the ladies!) look forward to the chance to dress up a bit. Typically, men wear tuxes or suits (though some even come in jeans), and most ladies prefer evening gowns or party dresses. This year, in keeping with our 'Roaring Twenties' Speakeasy theme, we're also encouraging you to take inspiration from the Jazz Age: Prohibition and speakeasy's, silent film icons, "It Girl" flappers, dapper Capone-style mobsters, the 'Thinman' movies, the Great Gatsby.
Menu/Schedule: As always, we'll begin the cocktail hour, at 6:00, with appetizers and an open bar (all evening) - perhaps including a couple of classic cocktail specials. At 7:00, we'll enjoy 'A Taste of Italy' - a dinner of Italian dishes, Caesar salad and Italian-style green beans, followed by cheesecake and Italian cream cake, and coffee. The Commodore will make presentations and comments on the year past, and introduce our new officers. Then, it's on to music and dancing, as our band from last year, Just-in-Tyme, returns to rock us out till midnight.
Price and Reservations:
The price will again be $50 per person*. Paid reservations are
required. We must give catering an advance count (and commitment to pay),
so they can place orders and properly prepare. We turn in our count
on Tuesday, Feb. 14. After this date, please call,
to see if any spots are available.
Invitations: Invitations were mailed. If you didn't
receive a mailed invitation, we did not have a correct or current postal
address for you. Nevertheless, you
are
invited. Please download the
Invitation/ Response Slip (PDF).
Reserved Tables/Seats:
Tables will be set for 6 persons, with seating generally anywhere you
choose. If you have a party of 6, and
would like us to reserve a table for you - and, if necessary, additional
seats on an adjoining table - please let us know, and
we'll do our best.
If you have any questions or need more information, please contact Larry Nelson or Brian Dusek.
* - FYI: The $50 per person price is spent on the Ball - not
on any other events or projects, nor is it used to fund the next season.
We attempt to essentially "zero out", at the end of each season.
Also: The liquor remaining in our bar is labeled and carefully stored,
each year, to be used at the next year's Ball. It isn't, as some rumors
had it, "split up among the officers" or "given to the Commodore".
