Event Wrap-up: What a great party! The mild
May evening
was a pleasant change from the hot and steamy June party, last year -
especially for Mark James and his crew of Cajun cooks and
boiler-tenders. The crawfish and shrimp, sausage, potatoes, corn and
onions were, once again, excellent and abundant. Along with the
outstanding sides and desserts, brought by members, and the ice cold beer
(we floated both kegs), it all made for a great dinner.
Our bellies filled, it was time for the
Katie Gilbert
Memorial
Poker Tournament, in honor of a former member,
friend and poker
enthusiast,
who we lost, last year.
The $20 buy-in tournament began with three full tables of players. After hours of
action, our winner was Randy Glover. Don Hunter took
2nd
place; Jon McNay, 3rd. Congratulations to all!
Everyone who joined or renewed as an annual member at this event was
entered in a drawing to win a free boat cleaning,
donated courtesy of
SHIP SHAPE.
In addition, Ship Shape gave new member sign-ups a coupon for 10% off of
a boat cleaning.
The free boat cleaning prize went to Fred Rosenberg, who plans to use it
for the Texas Queen.
Heh, kidding, the winner of the drawing
was Bill Fuentes, of O Dock.
Our thanks to Jim Rosenberg and Bayview Marina, for donating the considerable amount of
ice we needed for this event. Thanks to Mark James and his helpers, for
their hard work and expertise, in giving us another fine Cajun boil -
it was a long day, for those guys! Thanks
to those who brought the great sides and desserts. Our
appreciation to Barry Bosman of K Dock, for organizing and running the
poker tournament. And, finally, thanks to Shawn and
Ship Shape, for donating another free boat cleaning for
the drawing, and for the new member discounts.
