Blessing of the Fleet and Decorated Boat Parade

Chandler's Marina and

Event Overview:
Our boats will
line up on the lake and form a procession through Bayview Marina, and back out. As each
boat passes, the Chaplain will ask a blessing for the safety of the
craft and her crew in the new boating season.
As our boats exit the marina, they will form a large circle, outside the breakwater. The Chaplain will board the last boat in the procession, which will then take up position in the middle of the circle. The Chaplain will perform a memorial Laying of the Wreath ceremony, in remembrance of those who have passed on before us. Then, those who wish will continue on to parade by Chandler's Landing and The Harbor, before the boats return to Bayview Marina (or break out for a few extra hours on the water).
Spectators are encouraged to enjoy the parade of creatively decorated boats. Best views are from the dock ends at Bayview Marina, and from The Harbor at Rockwall.
The Bayview Boat Club members will have an evening Pool-side BBQ Party (7:00PM), following the parade. Awards, in four categories, will be presented for decorated boats, and attendees will enjoy a barbecue dinner, provided courtesy of Inland Dive Service, along with Ship Shape and Becky's Custom Canvas.
Schedule:June 5 (Saturday):
1:00PM - 2:00PM Registration/check-in at 'J' Dock pavilion. Pick up numbers, receive instructions, fill out 'memory card' for Wreath Ceremony.
2:00PM - Boats head out and form up on lake.
2:30PM - Boats begin to proceed slowly through Bayview Marina, north to south, inside the breakwater, past docks H thru M. Chaplain performs Blessing ceremony.
Boats exit marina, and form circle for the Laying of the Wreath ceremony.
The circle then unwinds, and the parade continues on to other points. Non-parading boats may re-enter and dock.
7:00PM - BBC Party by the pool begins.
