Event Wrap-up: We enjoyed perfect mild weather for our annual Halloween Chili Cook-off and Costume Contest. This year, our party was held on the Weekends Patio.
Classic rock band, Now or Never, played live
before a screen, showing legendary old black-and-white horror movies.
Guests entered the patio through an elaborately-decorated
spooky dungeon cave, the creative handiwork of Jeff Long.
Bayview Marina and Weekends Paradise Bar and
Grill graciously hosted our event, and provided a giant pot
of chili, along with "fixin's",
salad, soda and keg beer.

The party was open not only to members, but to everyone with a slip at Bayview Marina, or its sister marinas*. It appeared to be our best attended party of the year, to date... it certainly was our most densely packed party! Lots of folks wore costumes; some even got together and coordinated their outfits around a theme, like Gilligan's Island.
We had ten chili contestants competing in the Cook-off, this year. A team of judges carefully evaluated the entries, including their table decoration, and the prizes were announced:
| Best Chili | ||
| 1st Place | The "Moss Man" | Paid-up member dues for next year ($75) |
| 2nd Place | Randy Wilson | $50 off next year's dues |
| 3rd Place | Randy Pritchard | $25 off next year's dues |
Best Table Decoration/Presentation:
Edie and Marjorie ('J' Dock)
Costumes ranged from cute to scary, funny to sexy. Winners of the Costume Contest were chosen by audience acclamation, through several rounds of narrowing down to the finalists. And, congratulations to Terry Bass, for winning first place, for the third year running!
| Best Costume | ||
| 1st Place | Terry "Harem Girl" Bass | $75 |
| 2nd Place | Deb "Margarita" Brantley | $50 |
| 3rd Place | Small boy "Grim Reaper" | $25 |

After all the winners were announced and prizes awarded, party guests spent the balance of the evening hanging out, talking and laughing, or dancing and rocking out, as the band played on.
We want to give our special thanks to Jim Rosenberg and Weekends, for hosting us on the Patio, and providing food and refreshments. Another hand for the band, who kept us rocking. Thanks to the cook-off contestants, for treating us to some excellent chili. Thanks to those who put the effort and creativity into your costumes, and made it more entertaining for all of us. Thanks to the members who brought desserts to share. And special thanks to Jeff Long, for the decorations, and to the Club Board members who planned and worked so hard, before and after, to give everyone such a fun and memorable time. Great job, guys!
